NEWS FLASH:

Shows, shows, shows, as usual! Also, look in the video section here for a video blog of a typical day on the road with skylab2000. Working on loads of new stuff, as usual. Did a ring tone for Start Mobile, and a remix for Trixie which is in the Billboard charts! Also have a track in Konami's Dance Dance Revolution Universe out now!

SKYLAB2000 GEAR:

People often ask about the gear skylab2000 uses. Feel free to have a look at the live setup when you see skyab2000 perform. We'd be happy to answer specific questions before or after a set.

In the studio, synths, samplers and effects from Roland, Korg, Yamaha, Future Retro, Electrix, Midi Solutions, Waldorf, Mackie, Behringer and Alesis all get used.

For idea sketches, Sonic Foundry's Acid Pro is great, but we usually just grab a coffee and sit down in front of the machines. Most of the music we make is done with old skool hardware, though these days soft synths and computer prgrams are very powerful and can certainly be used for complete tracks.

For mastering, I like Wavelab and Sound Forge and the Waves plug-ins.

I often get asked "what gear should I get to start out?" There is no easy answer to that. If I asked you what kind of car should I buy, could you answer? Not so easy. I really feel that there's so much great gear out there that it's hard to go wrong. We started with very basic stuff, and not a lot has changed. Go to a store, download a free program or two, and just see what feels right for you. The way I do things is a lot different from the next guy. We all have our own methods.

I feel quite strongly that good music can be made on any gear. It's all up to the creator. Having said all that, I'd be happy to answer specific questions, if it will help you.

And then send me some music!
